FAQ

Which CBCT report should I choose: Screening or Advanced?

Screening Report is a concise, text-only summary designed for straightforward cases or when you simply need to rule out pathology. This option is often used when an image was taken for a specific purpose, but you’d like a radiologist to review the entire scan as part of our dental teleradiology services, confirming there are no incidental findings across the full set of medical images.

Advanced Report includes annotated images, detailed key findings, and practical clinical recommendations. Choose this option for treatment planning, complex cases, referrals, or when visuals are needed to communicate findings with colleagues or patients and support confident clinical decisions in the final report.

What files should I upload for dental remote radiology services?

CBCT in DICOM format is preferred for our radiology reading services. CBCT studies typically contain several hundred .dcm files (extension for DICOM) files and must be zipped before upload. Please ensure the images are NOT anonymized before saving.

To use our panoramic dental teleradiology services, upload the .dcm file (preferred, as it allows the radiologist to adjust and analyze the image) or a JPG/PNG that includes the patient’s name and date of image acquisition. If you experience any issues, please contact us.

Can you provide a second opinion or over-read on previously interpreted diagnostic studies?

Yes. Upload the DICOM and attach the prior report. Our dental teleradiology services include independent over-reads of existing diagnostic imaging, with a clear interpretation that addresses your specific questions and provides a new final report.

Please note: our dental teleradiology services are provided exclusively to licensed dental professionals. We do not offer direct radiology services to patients. If you would like our radiologist to review your study, please ask your dentist or treating clinician to submit the case on your behalf through our secure teleradiology services platform.

How and why to ZIP a DICOM folder?

CBCT scans consist of hundreds of DICOM slice files. Zipping the folder helps prevent upload errors, ensures secure access to the full set of medical images, and supports efficient teleradiology services.

To ZIP the folder:

  • Right-click the patient’s DICOM folder
  • Select “Send to” → “Compressed (zipped) folder”
  • A .zip file will be created in the same location

Can I talk to a radiologist if I have a question?

Yes. Established clients have direct access to the radiologist through our secure portal or by phone for follow-up questions and clarification.
