Exporting DICOM files (.dcm) from Aceton
To prepare a CBCT case for submission, export the scan as a DICOMDIR into a dedicated patient folder and do not skip the final step—compressing the folder into a ZIP file. Below are the general steps (the full step-by-step guide with screenshots is available in the PDF linked on this page).
Overview of steps
Create a patient folder on your Desktop
Make a new folder and name it with the patient’s name
Open the patient history in Aceton
Find the most recent CBCT, right-click it, and select “Export DICOMDIR”
Choose the patient folder as the export location
In the dialog window, browse to your Desktop, select the patient folder, then click “Select Folder”
Confirm export completion
When the export finishes successfully, click “OK”
Verify the exported files
Open the patient folder and confirm the .dcm files are present (there should typically be several hundred files)
Compress the folder (ZIP) — do not skip this step
On your Desktop, right-click the patient folder and choose Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder. A zipped copy of the folder will be created.
