Exporting DICOM files (.dcm) from Morita

To prepare a CBCT case for submission, export the scan as a DICOMDIR into a dedicated patient folder and do not skip the final step—compressing the folder into a ZIP file. Below are the general steps (the full step-by-step guide with screenshots is available in the PDF linked on this page).

Overview of steps

1

Open the CBCT scan

Launch the J. Morita software and select the patient’s CBCT volume.

2

Start DICOM export

Go to Tools → Save as a DICOM series → Axial Series
(or right-click the volume → Save as a DICOM series).

3

Set slice settings

Set Interval and Thickness to the lowest values, then click OK.

4

Confirm export

Click OK in the Accession Number window and wait for the export to finish.

5

Locate exported files

Go to C:\JMoritaMFG\3Dx\Simulation and find the patient folder.

6

Rename the folder

Rename it using Patient Last Name, First Name.

7

Verify files

Confirm the folder contains many .dcm files (usually hundreds).

8

ZIP the folder (do not skip)

Right-click the folder → Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.

9

Upload the ZIP

Upload the zipped folder in the IDR portal request form.
