Exporting DICOM files (.dcm) from Vatech

To prepare a CBCT case for submission, export the scan as a DICOMDIR into a dedicated patient folder and do not skip the final step—compressing the folder into a ZIP file. Below are the general steps (the full step-by-step guide with screenshots is available in the PDF linked on this page).

Overview of steps

1

Create a Desktop folder

Name it with the patient’s full name.

2

Open the patient’s CBCT in Vatech

Launch the scan in your Vatech software.

3

Start the DICOM export

Ez3Di: CD icon (or Main Menu → Export)
EZDent-1: Right-click the scan thumbnail → Export
3DPlus: Tools → Export → Memory

4

Choose the export folder

Select the patient folder on Desktop → Select Folder.

5

Finish export

When complete, click OK.

6

Verify files

Confirm the folder contains many .dcm files (usually hundreds).

7

ZIP the folder (do not skip)

Right-click the folder → Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.

8

Upload the ZIP

Upload the zipped folder to the IDR portal request form.
